What to Expect - Week #7, Season 23

For Week #7 – July 25 — of the 2019 FACSAP Summer Harvest, we anticipate the following this Thursday:

BLENHEIM ORGANIC GARDENS – Lawrence and Becky Latané, Courtney Fishback

• Sweet Corn

• An assortment of tomatoes like last week, from small Slicers, to Carolina Golds, a mixture of Indigo Cherry, Yellow Trumpets, to Cherry and Juliets. A very colorful and delightful mixture! [quarts for full shares and pints for half shares]

HARTLAND NATURAL FARM – Jamie Whitaker

• Salad Collection: Beautiful Lettuce, Tender Cucumbers and Assorted Tomatoes

GUERRA FARM – José Antonio Guerra Martinez

• Tomatoes

• Sweet Green Peppers

• Choose from: Swiss Chard, Sweet Basil or Assorted Zucchini (large shares select 2 units, small shares select one unit)

DOWNTOWN GREENS YOUTH FARM PROGRAM – Jennifer Gron

• Hot Peppers, likely Cayenne

ROCK RUN CREEK FARM – Francis Ngoh

I do not anticipate having a harvest delivery this week for the FACSAP Shares. However, I do have some mushrooms ready this week.

TERRA STONE GREENS – Caroline Nicotera

• The fourth delivery of Microgreens is this week.

This has been a challenging week with the heat on our microgreen crop. We lost the sweet snap peas that were to be featured. I also added Black Oil Sunflower, and we lost about 50% of this crop and I can only attribute it to the intense humidity. So I planted my trusty Dijon mustard and radish on Saturday as back up for next Thursday. I will see if we have enough sunflower for Thursday...but we will most definitely have enough Dijon and radish for the following Thursday if my sunflower is not sufficient. I will bring what I can and we can try to figure it out.
