Our Food
FACSAP is Fredericksburg's first CSA, committed to providing our members with organic food from local farmers since 1997. This dedication to food purity is the reason our CSA was founded, and remains our top priority. Other CSA communities may feature local produce, but FACSAP is committed to providing both local and organic/Certified Naturally Grown produce to grace your table each week! Our aim has always been, and continues to be, establishing, maintaining, and supporting local organic food producers. All FACSAP farms are within a 100-mile radius of the City of Fredericksburg, with the majority within 50 miles.
A weekly share in the harvest contains a diverse assortment of freshly harvested organic produce. Each share typically includes about six to eight types of produce (sometimes more). Occasionally, the share will also include other special items such as local organic raw honey, handmade soap, and biologically-grown apple cider.
Our Summer Share Harvest season runs from June through October, for a total of 20 weeks of delicious, quality produce and food to nourish you
and your family.
Our Community
While our focus is always on fresh sustainably grown local food, we also strive to build and benefit our community. Building a community between organic farmers and our members is a very important part of our mission. Community and connection are at the core of FACSAP—the goal has been to create a space for meeting new people, exchanging resources, and eating with intention. We provide support and resources to help you make the most of the produce in your harvest share, and our private Facebook community group offers a virtual gathering space for sharing recipes and news. Together, we continue to make a difference!
Our Farmers
Among area CSAs, the Fredericksburg Area CSA Project is unique in several ways. Rather than being a single farm CSA, we are a cooperative of several growers from across our region. Our farms range from urban gardens of Green Thumb Growers in Downtown Fredericksburg, to much larger farms like Hartland Natural Farm. All of our farms meet or exceed the national organic standard.
By joining FACSAP, you become a shareholder of the farms’ harvest. By investing in your area’s organic farms even before the crops are sown, you help keep these farms economically viable. Your participation directly sustains your local organic farms and supports the region’s agriculture based community.
