The second delivery of Microgreens is this week.
Good Morning,
This week’s harvest will be a delicious sweet Microgreen Sugar Pea Sprout + Black Oil Sunflower Sprout + Red Clover - perfect for a green smoothie or salad or sandwich- not so great for stir-fry - and the taste is so incredibly sweet and nutty flavored They are a delight to grow and require a little light, soil, water and love. If you are interested, I’d be happy to hold a class for budding Microgreen enthusiasts in our group. I love to share the process and help others along the way! Thanks so much.
Best Regards,
Caroline
P.S. This may be of interest to our FACSAP community: Now is the time to start harvesting for your teas – Lemongrass, Peppermint (see photo) and Anise Hyssop (excellent pollinator and makes a fabulous licorice tea, as well). All these are easy Virginia soil herbs to cultivate. Setting up an herb garden is easier than one thinks, as the plants are intuitive and adapt easily. Most are perennials. Herb teas offer zero caffeine - plus minerals, vitamins and medicinal properties.
CARDINAL APIARIES – Pete Burt
We have started preparing this year’s honey harvest for FACSAP members. In addition to the jar which is part of the FACSAP Summer Share, we are pleased to offer FACSAP members a special Honey Share again this year, for those who would like additional honey each month. Details coming soon!
KICKSHAW’S GLUTEN-FREE BAKERY – Kathy Craddock
Back by popular demand, the 85% Certified Organic Gluten-Free Bread Shares! Kathy will be with us this Thursday with samples of her delicious, nutritious loaves. Sign up forms will be available for reserving your Bread Share in conjunction with the FACSAP Summer Harvest. First delivery is scheduled for July 11.
GOLDEN ACRES ORCHARD – John Thomson & Mrs. Scottie Thomson
John delivered the Apple Juice and Cider Vinegar to us all the way from the Orchard last week. He and his mother, Mrs. Scottie, are profoundly grateful for our commitment to their family’s organic apple orchard. A nice note received after John’s visit to us:
Good morning,
Thank you so much for arranging to have our juice at the CSA pickup yesterday.
Meeting your volunteers and members was an enjoyable experience.
Once again, you were a very big help to us.
Sincerely,
John Thomson
